Overview

Proposals are reviewed on a rolling basis and may be submitted by individuals, organizations, and institutions that work to support the one of five key areas:

• Investment in educational development
• Innovation in science and technology
• The promotion of the arts and culture
• Developing youth, families and strong communities
• The promotion of environmental awareness and protection

Eligibility

Proposals will be considered from eligible tax-exempt organizations in certain 501(c)(3) subsections as defined by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

To be eligible for funding consideration organizations must:

• Not duplicate or significantly overlap the work of public agencies on the federal, state or local level.
• Serve the community without discrimination on the basis of age, color, citizenship, disability, disabled veteran status, gender, race, religion, national origin, marital status, sexual orientation, or military service status.
• Keep books available for regular independent outside audit and make the results available to all potential contributors.
• Comply with applicable laws regarding registration and reporting.
• Observe the highest standards of business conduct in its relationships with the public.

Restrictions

The Oasis Foundation does not support:

• Individuals, either through scholarships or other forms of financial support
• Organizations whose mission and work focus on a single municipality, province or state
• Government agencies
• Public schools and school districts
• Programs promoting religious or ideological doctrine, such as those principally sectarian in nature
• Lobbying (beyond that allowed by law for charitable organizations)
• Endowments, cash reserves or deficit reductions
• Land or site acquisition
• Political campaigns
• Institutions that discriminate on the basis of race, creed, age, gender or sexual orientation in policy or practice
• Grant making to other organizations or individuals

Grant Criteria

The Oasis Foundation of Washington DC seeks to further cultural ties by pursuing activities that improve the quality of life in communities where these projects originate. We request that applications express how organizations have implemented or are developing innovative programs that reflect one of the Oasis Foundation target areas. Applications should include a clear, long-term path for community impact. Please provide a compelling strategy for reaching goals and demonstrate proof of concept with measurable outcomes. Applications should include a decisive plan for long-term financial and operational sustainability. The Oasis Foundation also seeks applications that demonstrate a commitment to sharing and communicating success strategies. If your organization can meet these criteria, we encourage you to apply for an Oasis Foundation Grant.
