Al-Bustan Seeds of Culture is dedicated to educating youth in Arabic language, arts, and culture. Through structured exposure to the language, art, architecture, music, dance, literature, and natural environment of the Arab world, “Al-Bustan,” Arabic for “the Garden," promotes positive cultural identity, youth leadership, cross-cultural understanding, and respect within the diverse community of Arab-Americans and among youth of all ethnic, religious and socio-economic backgrounds. Al-Bustan's programs include: - summer camp in July - Arab music instruction and youth music ensembles - Arab arts classes in Philadelphia public schools - presentations by renowned Arab literary, visual, and performing artists - workshops/demonstrations by master teaching artists In both July 2009 and December 2011, the Oasis Foundation made substantial donations to Al-Bustan in order to provide general operating support for the organization's capacity to manage ongoing programs, while positioning Al-Bustan to expand its reach to a national level.
